Credit Application Form

Complete the Credit Application Form and submit it with any required documentation to the Student Services Manager

Credit eligibility

Students who choose to transfer from one IBC course to another may also be eligible for credit

Credit for prior learning

Applications for credit for prior learning will be considered and assessed during the admission process in accordance with the Credit Recognition of Prior Learning Policy and Procedure

Credits for prior learning granted by the IBC Education forms part of the Letter of Offer.

  • Applications

Applications for credit and recognition of prior learning must be submitted prior to a student commencing their first semester at IBC Education.

All applicants should complete the Credit Application Form and submit this application together with the following documentation to the Student Services Manager:

  1. Certified copies of academic transcripts (or certified translations of academic transcripts for international applicants from non-English speaking institutions) and
  2. Unit outlines and/or course descriptions providing adequate details of unit/course content to establish specific equivalence (in certified translation where required).

Applicants for credit based on grounds other than formal learning will be required to submit a portfolio of documentation and may be required to attend an interview to establish professional competence equivalent to learning outcomes in relevant units.

  • Assessment of applications

Applications for credit will be assessed and approved by the relevant Course Coordinator.  This assessment will involve a determination of whether the granting of credit or recognition of prior learning may negatively impact the achievement of the student’s learning outcomes, or the integrity of the course.  In reviewing the application, the Course Coordinator may consult a subject matter expert in relation to the unit for which credit is sought and will consider:

  1. Credits previously granted by IBC Education
  2. Any credit arrangements with other providers and
  3. Potential adverse consequences of granting the credit to the student.

Where the Course Coordinator considers an application to be non-standard, they will refer the application to the Academic Dean for determination.

Applicants who apply for credit on the basis of prior formal study will be informed in writing of a decision on the application within 10 working days of submission. If further information or substantiation is required, the application may experience longer processing times.

Transfer within IBC Education

Where a student at IBC Education seeks to change course prior to completion, IBC Education will transfer the credit for successfully completed units from one course to another where the units are deemed to be identical or equivalent. The assessment will be conducted in accordance with the procedures outlined this Policy. There is no limit to the percentage of credit transfer between IBC Education courses.

A new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) will be issued to international students to reflect the change in course. The change will be reported to Government authorities (including the Department of Education and Department of Home Affairs) through PRISMS.
