Academic Support | We are here to help
We will work with you to make sure you have everything you need to succeed.
The Student Learning Support Officer is available for one-on-one consultation by appointment or by referral from academic staff and can assist students face to face or by phone or online.
The Student Learning Support Officer provides the following support:
- English Language Proficiency
- Scheduled academic learning support workshops in literacy and numeracy
- Report and essay writing
- Academic integrity.
- Information about other support services available to students, including counselling
- Confidential referrals to external support agencies
- Assistance in contacting teaching staff in relation to student wellbeing
- Support services will be advertised via the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Academic staff are available for individual student consultation by appointment.
- Physical access to the Library resources and Librarian will be in accordance with the campus opening hours.
- The College also provides online access to a number of databases and learning support material is provided via the LMS.
- The Librarian will assist students in accessing research materials for their studies.
The Librarian, working with the Student Learning Support Officer will run Academic Literacy workshops. These workshops will be mandatory for first year students. The workshops will be scheduled at the being of each teaching period and a video of the session will be available online.
Academic Support Programs
- The goals of academic support programs are to identify issues limiting the capacity of students at risk to progress in their studies and to provide appropriate advice and support to assist these students to improve their academic results in the following semester. This support may include:
- Academic skills workshops and support sessions
- Individual case management
- Peer support or mentoring arrangements
- Minimum class attendance requirement
- Psychosocial counselling
- Reduced study load
- Changes in course enrolment
- Conditions on enrolment
- Any combination of the above.
